In 1631, a Dutch physician reported that Malays had informed him the orangutan could talk, but preferred not to "lest he be compelled to labour". One of my favorite fun facts is that the name orangutan comes from the Malay orang hutan which just translates to forest guy. Like oh that's just the forest guy.
